December

 
1. The 30,000 New Testaments for the Dinka Rek people of southern Sudan were held in Customs more than six months. Pray that huge fees required for their release will be reduced. Many Dinka churches, formed during the war years, eagerly await them.
2. There will be no JAARS Day today. Pray for the Tour department as they plan the 2007 JAARS Days: March 3, May 5, August 4 and October 6.
3. Pray for partners making year-end decisions about giving to JAARS, that God would grant insight, clear direction and confirmation.
4. Changes in government requirements held up the importation of equipment needed to set up a satellite Internet system in Bangui, CAR. Pray for resolution to this situation, so our colleagues can have faster, economical connectivity, stable email, and reliable access to web resources.
5. Pray for wisdom in daily decisions, as Jim Akovenko and the senior staff lead JAARS in worldwide ministry.
6. Scott Zibell’s recent Asian field trip assessed the need for support workers. Of several hundred languages in one area, only ten have been surveyed, and each has huge numbers of people. The need for support staff is great as language work gets underway.
7. Pray for Chris S., a former pilot-mechanic in Papua New Guinea, now the only full-time regional director, out of six, in that part of Asia.
8. Pray for those who attended the Computer Technical Conference in November. Pray that prayer and the positive steps taken will result in good working relationships, wise decisions and greater productivity.
9. The JAARS Purchasing and Shipping department needs a few more good people, including a Purchasing Manager and Buyer.
10. Pray that God would lead the right person to direct the Public Relations department, as the team considers restructuring outreach programs in the coming year.
11. Pray for wisdom for Paul Duffey and John Pepper, in the Land Transportation department, as they advise teams on travel safety and vehicle options.
12. Praise for the Samaritan’s Purse lease of a turbine helicopter to JAARS for use in Cameroon.
13. Pray for Alan and Debbie Van Doren; Carl and Pamela Stutsman; Mike and Ruth Kemp—all moving to Banso, Cameroon, to get the helicopter program “off the ground.”
14. Newer aircraft are essential for reaching remaining people groups. Pray for the provision of funds needed to upgrade the JAARS fleet.
15. Thank God for the five Wycliffe Benin members who began language work in the last year and for others joining or preparing for assignment.
16. Pray for the JAARS Leadership Team, January 17-19, as they receive Results-Based Management training.
17. A Vernacular Media (VMS) production team recorded the Genesis film this fall, in Suriname. Thank God.
18. At least three VMS recording trips to South America and Asia have been scheduled in 2007. Pray the needed field personnel will be available.
19. Materials Transportation Services needs two long-distance truck drivers and a dispatcher. Please pray.
20. At the Urban Alternative Church Development Conference in October in Dallas, 1,500 pastors and staff, mostly from African American churches, were challenged to lead their congregations toward greater involvement in the Great Commission. Pray for the seeds that were planted.
21. Teachers and principals are needed to staff international schools for the 2007–2008 school year. Please pray.
22. Pray that Christian churches in Mozambique and elsewhere in Africa will develop their commitment to Bible translation.
23. Creative Services is seeking a video editor with managerial skills for the Media department, a publicity writer and a photo-librarian. Please pray.
24. Praise God for all those who will celebrate the birth of Christ for the first time, having heard the Good News in their own language this year.
25. Rejoice! “Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord” (Luke 2:11).
26. Pray for people—more than 2,500 groups—who do not yet have God’s message of love and forgiveness in the language that reaches their hearts.
27. Thank God for the many volunteers who serve at JAARS, whether long-term or for short periods each year.
28. Pray for the Hamiltons and the Hausslers, boat captain couples who assist translation and literacy teams working on the islands of the Pacific.
29. A new boat is being built to replace the MV Mark in Papua New Guinea. Pray for funds to finish construction.
30. Pray for Sarah Estep and Food Services staff as they prepare and serve lunch each weekday to widely fluctuating numbers of people.
31. The projected year for seeing Bible translation started, in every language group needing it, was 2150. Since 1999, the time has been shortened to 2038. Praise God.

November

 
1. The November JAARS Board meetings will be held in Thailand. Pray for safe travel and good health for those involved.
2. Give thanks to the Lord for JAARS Board members who willingly take on this responsibility in addition to their other assignments and activities.
3. This is the last day of the Computer Technical Conference. Pray for stamina during meetings this afternoon, and safety for those traveling home.
4. Today is JAARS Day. Pray for staff sharing the vision of Bible translation with visitors to the Center.
5. Only 39 percent of offices in Africa have Internet access to corporate systems. Pray for creative ways to meet these needs.
6. Two weeks of technical workshops and training for IT personnel begin today. Pray for productive classes, functioning equipment, prepared teachers and energetic students.
7. Pray for insight and renewed passion as the JAARS Board visits a Thai language project.
8. Pray that Betty Kaetterhenry will have wisdom and strength in her new role of Housekeeping Manager as she leads and works alongside the staff.
9. Three areas of the world encompass 80 percent of the remaining Bible translation needs: Indo-Pacific Archipelago, Africa and Mainland Asia. Pray for workers who can begin Bible translation projects in these areas.
10. Visa policies of governments around the world affect Wycliffe workers. Pray that the issuing of visas will be expedited. Pray for good diplomatic relationships with many governments.
11. Pray for wisdom, discernment and alertness in today’s JAARS Board sessions.
12. Thank God for the safety and health of this summer’s youth mission trip to Peru. Pray for the seeds scattered among the school kids and workers. Praise Him! The team was able to donate over $2000 to Scripture Union ministry.
13. Pray this week for the Global Leaders Meeting in Thailand and for Bible translation participants as they listen, discuss, and plan for the future.
14. This week external auditors will be working with Accounting personnel. Pray for the concentration and accuracy of those conducting the audit.
15. There will be one or more new staff on the external audit team. Pray they will learn and understand the work at JAARS so the audit will go well.
16. Pray for Arlette McGrigg and the workers in the Sewing Room as they serve JAARS personnel with alterations and repairs.
17. Pray for the Vernacular Media team helping record the Genesis video in the Aukan language of Suriname.
18. Pray that Mike and Beth Matheson will be able to join the JAARS youth ministry in December.
19. Continue to pray for Wycliffe members who are making partnership development contacts. Pray for full prayer and financial support teams and that all their needs will be met.
20. Creative Services has an urgent need for a video editor. Please pray.
21. Give thanks for Pieter Muusse and Anton van der Maat, interns from the Netherlands serving in Aviation.
22. Give thanks for teachers who serve missionaries on the field. A large percentage of recent Wycliffe Training Camp participants are now teaching in various places around the world.
23. Thanksgiving Day. Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever (1 Chronicles 16:34 NKJV).
24. Pray for wisdom and insight as JAARS healthcare providers see each patient and decide how best to meet each need. Pray for the provision of a part-time laboratory technician.
25. Ask God to raise up many capable trainers and managers who can pass on their Construction and Maintenance skills to local people so language work can be supported and sustained.
26. Pray that people serving in support roles will be able to present the vision for involvement in Bible translation to churches and individuals, so that more people will be led to “go, give or pray.”
27. Pray for students attending the Vernacular Media training course this fall. Seven out of the nine are new to Wycliffe.
28. Pray for New Testaments nearing completion which are being translated in secret. Pray that God will protect the lives of those involved and their families.
29. Pray that those in leadership in Cameroon will have wisdom to know how best to train, integrate and support Africans in Bible translation and literacy.
30. Praise the Lord for dedicated and caring teachers and volunteer assistants at the MK Station (on-Center preschool child care).

1. Through meetings, training, and publicity in September, JAARS emphasized safety procedures. Pray that we will be “safety stewards for God’s glory.”
2. Pray for Wycliffe Germany as they hold an event this month to help with the costs of the PC-12 aircraft.
3. Give thanks for the enthusiastic response of the people who received the revised Isnag New Testament plus Genesis and Exodus at the dedication in June.
4. Pray as the JAARS Board Chairman determines the schedule and agenda for the November meeting.
5. Tomorrow Durk Meijer, serving as International Orality Network Facilitator, will meet with partners from several organizations to discuss plans for conferences aimed at raising awareness and validating the cause of reaching the world’s four billion oral learners.
6. Thank God for volunteers who helped the Isnag people construct a runway; expand their church; install a clean water system and build the translator’s house.
7. Pray for today’s JAARS Day special celebration—having God’s Word in the Isnag people’s heart language.
8. Dr. Richard Allen Farmer is speaking at the biennial Spiritual Vitality Meetings today and tomorrow. Pray that JAARS personnel and their families will grow spiritually as a result.
9. October 13 – 15 are the dates for the first annual Missionary Kids retreat, cosponsored by JAARS and Mu Kappa. Pray that the college-age MKs will enjoy good fellowship and spiritual renewal.
10. Pray for wisdom, good discussion and effective communication as the Senior Leadership Team meets today with the SIL International Administration Team.
11. Continue to pray for someone to take on the role of Director of Public Relations.
12. Pray against the technical failure of computers, printers, copiers, storage disks and service items for every New Testament project nearing completion.
13. Pray for Sarah Estep and kitchen staff as they prepare more food and extra meals for those attending conferences and workshops at JAARS during October and November.
14. Pray for those traveling from many countries to the Computer Technical Conference in November. Pray for the safety of families that stay behind.
15. Pray for all attending the biennial Mexico Branch Conference, Oct. 17–27, at Amor de Díos Conference Center in Oaxaca. Pray for unity as decisions are discussed and policies evaluated.
16. Pray for the Housing Department as they find lodging for everyone attending the special events and conferences at the JAARS Center this month.
17. Pray for several new SIL leaders now in Waxhaw to receive orientation regarding available JAARS services.
18. Pray that JAARS staff involved in orientation of SIL leaders will listen, understand, respond appropriately and be an encouragement to them.
19. The JAARS Aviation Technical Conference began yesterday. Pray for this time of learning, discussion, decision-making, fellowship and refreshment for those from overseas.
20. Pray for the Wycliffe Associates KidZone team, providing Vacation Bible School for about 50 children while their parents attend the branch conference in Oaxaca, Mexico.
21. Pray for Jim Akovenko and staff as they prepare board reports for the meetings in November.
22. Pray for wisdom for Rick Herr in his new position as Construction and Maintenance Operations Manager.
23. Personnel needs in Materials Transportation Services include one person to write orders, do data entry and answer the phone each morning, and another to serve as fulltime truck dispatcher.
24. “I am a pre-field Wycliffe member. I attended Jungle Jump-Off back in 1999 with my youth group, and that experience changed my life. In fact, I probably never would have heard of Wycliffe otherwise.” Give thanks for Jungle Jump Off and its staff. Pray for those who attended JJO this summer.
25. Ask God to raise up more people in Africa to take on leadership roles in the Church and in Bible translation.
26. Pray that Accounting personnel will be orderly and precise in their preparations for the November external audit.
27. Thank God for the many JAARS volunteers, a vital part of the team.
28. Ask God to send long-term workers, needed in several departments.
29. Join your faith with JAARS as we await the resources to take delivery on a new Pilatus PC-12 aircraft to be placed in service with our valued partner organization in Southeast Asia.
30. Pray for unity, good communication and clear direction as 200 IT personnel meet for the week-long Computer Technical Conference.
31. Pray for continued peace in Cameroon and the central African region. Pray government leaders will have wisdom in resolving difficult political, ethnic and economic challenges.

1. Pray for participants at the Scottish Wycliffe Conference (September 1–3) as they plan for the coming year’s ministries.
2. Pray that personnel in WBT USA Stewardship, Donor Receipting, Church Relations and Recruiting will learn, adjust and successfully use new database software, Raisers Edge, to track contacts with potential members and donors.
3. Pray for the need for a Director of the Public Relations Department. Pray for the right person to lead this important team.
4. Labor Day—pray for perseverance and renewed energy as staff take a break from their regular routine.
5. Pray that staff in Human Resources will have wisdom in assigning jobs to volunteers.
6. Pray for safety and health as a Wycliffe Associates team continues the renovation process of a 200-year-old three-story building, to become headquarters for Wycliffe France, in Valence, September 9–30.
7. During the 50th Anniversary Celebration of Bible Translation in Papua New Guinea, many had the honor of carrying the Scriptures in their own languages during the processional. Praise the Lord!
8. Offer praise for Vernon and Robin Miller (Papua New Guinea) coming to JAARS to assist in the Construction and Maintenance Training Program. Pray that their home will sell and their support will increase.
9. Today is JAARS Day. Pray for those who speak and give demonstrations, that they may present clearly and that people will get involved in Bible translation.
10. The Global Leaders Meeting preparations continue. Pray that participants will arrive prepared to bring their attitudes, desires, and working relationships into line with God’s will and purposes.
11. Pray that more Papua New Guinea churches will encourage their members to get involved in the Bible translation task.
12. Pray for our overseas servicemen and women. Pray for good communication and understanding between them and their families. Thank God for their courage and commitment.
13. Pray that JAARS’ commitment will be met to provide an aviation maintenance instructor for the Bible College of Victoria in Australia in 2007.
14. Pray for the security of overseas personnel and for perseverance in their ministries.
15. Teachers are still needed for missionary kids during the 2006–2007 school year. Pray!
16. Pray for translators’ relationships with mother-tongue speakers. Pray for their cultural understanding to grow each day.
17. Whether moving from one country to another, or learning a new language and culture, missionary families face many changes. Pray for grace and the ability to flex.
18. Give praise for Vernacular Media specialists newly assigned to Nigeria. At least 22 more specialists are needed worldwide.
19. Pray that Partnership Ministries will see all of the 2006 projects funded by the end of the fiscal year on September 30.
20. Thank God for continued safety for JAARS truckers. Materials Transportation Services needs more drivers to help carry missionary goods.
21. Pray as Information Technology (IT) personnel develop procedures to set up new projects, extend the intern program year round, and create IT mission trips for and with colleges.
22. Pray for the Vernacular Media Training staff as they prepare courses to be taught next year at JAARS and other locations.
23. Pray for good communication in Accounting so that entries are accurately recorded and posted in financial statements as the fiscal year ends.
24. Pray for wisdom to know the best media to use to present the gospel message quickly, clearly, and powerfully in new languages.
25. Pray now through December for the implementation process of Serenic Navigator, new business software for JAARS. Pray for wisdom, and good communication and time management.
26. Young people are committed to Vision 2025. Many students are working to see it become a reality. Pray that this generation will be willing to sacrifice material goods and comforts for eternal gain and that parents will support, encourage and release their children to ministry.
27. Praise the Lord for the Kodiak airplane, a new turbine-powered aircraft designed especially for mission flying. JAARS anticipates receiving its first one in early 2007.
28. October 30–November 3, JAARS will host approximately 200 people at the Computer Technical Conference. Pray for the final preparations.
29. Pray for wisdom, minimal distractions, and discovery of needed changes as Peru’s Huaylas Quechua New Testament goes through final revisions. Pray that Quechua speakers will grow in faith through reading God’s Word.
30. Pray for Rob Peterson, pilot-mechanic, as he transitions from French language study to Cameroon Field Orientation. Pray for safety, good health and adaptation to the country and culture.

1. Pray for the North Eurasia Group Conference taking place this week and next. Pray that personnel will be refreshed and encouraged and will have wisdom as they discuss business.
2. Partnership Development Workshop ends August 4. Pray that participants will use what they have learned to good advantage.
3. Pray that Jungle Jump Off staff Rick and Dori Pfizenmaier and Gerry and Barb Steba will have stamina, godly wisdom and discernment daily.
4. Pray for Sea Captains Bob and Nancy Haussler serving in the Solomon Islands and for continued healing and flexibility of Bob’s injured hand.
5. Pray for the Information Technology Mobilization team as their responsibilities continue to expand.
6. Pray for JAARS Day visitors’ travel safety and for their excitement and new involvement in Bible translation. Pray for personnel representing the various departments.
7. On February 20, Elaine Townsend had a stroke leaving her left side partially paralyzed. Rehabilitation has helped her speech and swallowing. Pray for continued improvement and ability to share the vision of Bible translation.
8. Pray for those affected by the May 28 earthquake on the island of Java in Indonesia. Praise the Lord that no Wycliffe personnel were affected.
9. Intercultural Communications Course begins today and finishes September 8. Pray for safety and health of participants and staff.
10. Pray for needed aviation maintenance personnel and a parts buyer for the hangar in Waxhaw.
11. Pray that God will give inspiration and creativity to JAARS writers and graphic designers, to do their job well.
12. November 14–21, the Global Leaders Meeting occurs in Asia. Pray that visas will be quickly issued to those planning to attend.
13. One of the world’s largest unreached people groups is the Deaf. They live in every country of the world, using many different sign languages.
14. Pray for additional workers needed to survey over 120 sign languages to determine how many require Scripture translations on video or other media.
15. Pray for Chuck Daly, Vic Hess and others planning the fall Aviation Technical Conference, a yearly worldwide business meeting for reviewing policies and safety issues.
16. Pray for travel safety, health and winsomeness as Partnership Ministry representatives call and meet with donors to present JAARS needs.
17. Ask God to give wisdom as Information Technology volunteer projects are gathered, defined and promoted to help fill the need for IT people on the field.
18. Pray that missionary kids who have arrived at JAARS this summer will quickly adjust to school and be blessed with strong, Christian friends. Pray that youth ministers will be sensitive to their needs.
19. Pray for the JAARS Intercessors who are willing to pray daily for the needs of administration and personnel.
20. Pray that personnel who are caring for elderly parents will have stamina, patience, wisdom, and peace.
21. The next generation will live to see beyond the fulfillment of Vision 2025. Pray that the Next Generation Mobilization team, led by Carrie Hurley, will encourage young people to become passionately and actively involved in the work of Bible translation.
22. Pray for African-American churches in the Charlotte area as they partner with Wycliffe Benin. Pray that all will be blessed.
23. Praise the Lord for providing personnel to fill critical positions in Accounting.
24. Pray for refreshment and renewal for Rick and Dori Pfizenmaier and Gerry and Barb Steba as the Jungle Jump Off season ends.
25. In Construction and Maintenance (CAM) there are 55 open positions worldwide. Pray for new personnel with needed skills.
26. Pray that financial and prayer support needs will be met for the five or six families considering attending the fall CAM orientation.
27. Despite 20 years of illness, war, evacuation and difficult conditions, the Democratic Republic of Congo’s Mangbetu New Testament and JESUS film script have been finished. Pray that printing and recording will be accomplished soon.
28. Pray for good ongoing relationships and clear communications among JAARS senior staff.
29. Power and riches can even tempt those involved in Bible translation. Pray people will get involved out of pure motives and will trust God to provide for and bless them.
30. Christians of many nations lack worship music, in their language and cultural style. Pray that musicians will catch the vision for helping them by reading the 45 stories in All the World is Singing, edited by Carol Brinneman.
31. Give thanks for the teens and adults who participated in Jungle Jump Off this summer and ask that their lives be changed because of their experience with Bible translation.

July 2006

 
1. Pray that a Vernacular Media Services team can effectively communicate the availability of Spark (www.vernacularmedia.org), which helps people in ministry make effective media choices.
2. Pray that Bob Cape, who is investing time redesigning the JAARS web site, www.jaars.org, will have wisdom and insight as he proceeds.
3. Wycliffe and JAARS will be represented at the Cornerstone Music Festival, July 4–8. Pray for the team that will communicate the task of Bible translation.
4. Independence Day—praise God for freedom to read His Word. Pray for those who do not have this freedom.
5. Pray for John Marx, director of Materials Transportation Services, for wisdom in handling a heavy workload while awaiting more workers to join the team.
6. Pray for new long-haul truck driver couples needed to move missionary personal effects. Without more drivers, MTS may not be able to provide service to some who need it.
7. JAARS and Weddington United Methodist Church youth leave today for Peru. Pray during this week as they minister at a home for street boys and in the local community. Pray for safety and effective cross-cultural communications.
8. Today is JAARS Day. Pray that our guests will have eyes to see and ears to hear the exciting work of Bible translation.
9. Pray for the completion of a Scripture-based song project that began five years ago in Eurasia. Pray that the songs will speak God’s love to the people’s hearts.
10. Pray for Sea Captains Steve and Lynn Hyman, assigned to Papua New Guinea, as they sell their 50-foot motor sailboat and raise needed prayer and financial support.
11. Today is the monthly morning of prayer at the JAARS Center. Join us in praying for the spiritual vitality of all personnel.
12. Pray that Health Services staffing needs will be met during the summer months when many are on vacation or partnership development trips.
13. Pray for wisdom as translation teams make choices for presenting the gospel quickly, clearly, and powerfully in previously unwritten languages.
14. Praise the Lord for James Matthews, the new Housing Manager. Pray for the outgoing manager, Carol Weaver, in her new assignment with WBT USA Mobilization.
15. Pray for teachers to fill vacant positions to meet missionary kids’ (MKs) educational needs so that parents will not have to leave fields causing translation work delays.
16. Give praise for those who work behind the scenes in the Aviation parts room to keep mechanics supplied with what they need to do their jobs.
17. Give praise for two trailers that have been “wrapped” with messages promoting Bible translation and the Quest Kodiak plane.
18. Pray for the completion of the final certification tests for the Kodiak plane and for production to begin soon.
19. Pray that the senior administrative staff will perform their duties through God’s power, not through their own efforts, which leads to burnout.
20. According to UNESCO, one out of every three women in the world cannot read or write. Pray that God will give women everywhere the interest and courage to attend literacy classes.
21. Pray for newly literate women to read the Scriptures and apply them to their lives, bringing glory to God. Pray for God’s protection of new believers, especially in sensitive areas.
22. Tim and Stacie McIntosh are needed in Maritime Services to help provide fields with maritime specialists, water travel safety equipment, safe boats, and training. Pray for the Lord to quickly bring their financial and prayer support to 100%.
23. The second session of TOTAL It Up! begins today. Ask God to answer prayers for more workers by calling people from TIU into Bible translation.
24. The JAARS Intercessors are people who have taken on the assignment of praying. Thank God for them.
25. Pray that JAARS personnel will experience rich, spiritual fellowship with other believers.
26. Pray that Partnership Ministries will receive sufficient funds to complete projects chosen for 2006.
27. Pray for God’s hand of mercy over Christians in war-torn and persecuted countries, that they will hold onto their faith in the midst of heartaches.
28. Pray for the Vernacular Media Services’ productions team as they develop new recording materials for the Luke, Genesis, and Acts videos.
29. Praise the Lord for the first JAARS classroom training course for driving on difficult roads or terrain. More than a dozen people attended the course in November 2005. Pray for revisions of course materials and development of an outdoor driver training course.
30. Pray for Mike Rogers as he serves in Information Technology Services. He oversees classroom reservations and set-ups, moves and connects computers, makes travel arrangements, processes credit card bills and other tasks.
31. Pray that Partnership Ministries will have wisdom in the selection of new projects for the 2007 fiscal year.
 

June 2006

 
1. Pray for Linda Keizer and others in Bagabag, Philippines, as they make preparations for their area conference. Pray that plans will come together smoothly and easily.
2. Give praise for answered prayers! Several new workers are ministering in the accounting department. Pray for a new cashier, needed now.
3. Pray that all equipment and airplanes will operate efficiently and safely this JAARS Day.
4. The first summer TOTAL It Up! session begins today. Pray for Ed Loving and staff and for good attendance, and the Lord’s working in the hearts of participants.
5. Pray for flying safety, minimal unscheduled maintenance and good weather during this season’s Missions at the Airport programs.
6. Thank God for providing Sarah Estep as the new manager and chef in Food Services. Pray that those who work with Sarah in the kitchen and dining hall will be joy-filled.
7. Praise! The premier issue of the new JAARS magazine, Rev. 7: every nation people language has been mailed. It can also be viewed online at www.jaars.org.
8. It is furlough time for many overseas workers. Pray for safety in travel and good visits with families and friends.

14. Two language groups in Brazil recently received published reprints of the New Testament in their heart languages. Pray the local church will grow through reading God’s Word.
15. Ask God to provide workers for the personnel needs in Partnership Ministries.
16. Pray for the Check-IT-Out conference taking place in the Seattle area. Pray that the conference will draw many computer professionals into the work of Bible translation.
17. Give praise for the 26 attendees, and their positive responses, at earlier Check-IT-Out conferences in San Francisco and Los Angeles. Pray that these contacts will provide new personnel.
18. Pray for a new Housekeeping Manager. Pray for the outgoing manager, Merilee Blewett, who is getting married and moving to Oklahoma.
19. Pray that the Creative Services video team will be able to complete a new video on transportation by early July.
20. Pray for Sue Crabtree as she coordinates Wycliffe Associates Chapter meetings in the Carolinas. Pray that those who don’t yet support Bible translation will desire to do so.
21. Pray for visa office personnel as they work to build friendships with new staff in many embassies.
22. Praise the Lord for the good health, safety and success that aviation safety staff’ experienced during recent travels to five different countries.
23. Pray for Jared Schanely and his team as they keep the center computers and network running well.
24. Bible Translation and Literacy in Kenya will celebrate its 25th anniversary this year. Give praise with BTL director, Mundara Muturi, for God’s blessings and help in achieving goals.
25. Pray for those in Accounting as they adjust to a new software system named Serenic Navigator. Pray for peace, strength and additional help, and that the conversion, implementation, and training process will go smoothly.
26. Ask God to give JAARS personnel creative ways to develop needed prayer and financial support.
27. Pray that people from the surrounding community who come to the JAARS Clinic for travel immunizations will catch the vision of Bible translation as they go on short-term mission trips with their churches.
28. Pray as the Eastern Congo Group evaluate requests for new translations in Democratic Republic of Congo languages. Pray the Lord, working through the Congolese church, would show which languages to begin next. Pray for increased personnel and financial resources.

1. Pray for Creative Services writers, editors, and designers who need daily inspiration to do their job well.
2. Pray for wisdom and strength for Judy Bokelman, Senior VP of Information Technology, as she leads the team in providing computing and communications support in the use of appropriate technologies for language analysis and Bible translation worldwide.
3. Praise God for the January 28 dedication of the Numanggang New Testament in Papua New Guinea. Pray that Scriptures will be read and obeyed.
4. Pray for safety as pilots fly in and out of narrow airstrips while transporting supplies and personnel.
5. Pray for orientees’ support needs and choices of future assignment as they finish their training this month.
6. Pray that the excitement of seeing how technology relates to Bible translation will touch visitors during the JAARS Day program today.
7. Pray for the development of the language cluster approach. This is a way of working in multiple languages, simultaneously and interdependently.
8. Pray for new translators training to work in multiple languages. Pray for more personnel to be assigned to language clusters.
9. Today JAARS personnel gather for the monthly half day of Praise and Prayer. Pray for President Bush, the Cabinet, Congress, and local leaders.
10. Pray for the development of the Vernacular Media Services Area Liaison team as they interact with the Americas, Asia, Africa, Eurasia and Pacific Areas.
11. Pray for wisdom and unity as JAARS Board members meet in Waxhaw. Pray that the three new members will quickly assimilate and adjust to the Board and Policy Governance.
12. Pray for missionary kids (MKs) graduating from high school and college, for good closure with friends and teachers they may never see again. This time can be jubilant as well as sad and stressful for the MKs and their families.
13. Pray that trained surveyors will complete the task of identifying translation needs worldwide.
14. Fifteen Catholic, Anglican, Lutheran, Pentecostal and other church leaders met in Tanzania to organize the Forum of Bible Agencies and Churches, in order to support five or six new translation projects. Give praise for their commitments to see the Scriptures translated.
15. Children in the Democratic Republic of Congo will soon learn the Scriptures in local elementary schools. Pray the curriculum will speak to the hearts of the children and teachers.
16. Pray for Bill Mayes and the Africa Area team as they work to improve Internet access on the continent. Give thanks for the JAARS Wireless Communications team’s help and support.
17. Thank God for volunteers, some of whom hold positions of significant responsibility, while others faithfully perform behind-the-scenes tasks. All are needed.
18. Give praise! The greatest acceleration of Bible translation in church history has occurred in the seven years since the adoption of Vision 2025.
19. Pray that God’s message will be clear in an animated video of Scripture summarizing the entire Bible for a people group in Eurasia.
20. Give thanks for the growing interest and involvement of Latin American and Asian churches in mission and Bible translation. Pray for the finances that these churches will need to complete translations.
21. Today Kirk and Cindy Flanegan represent JAARS at the 50th Anniversary of Bible translation work in Papua New Guinea. Praise the Lord for the faithful work of many during the past 50 years in PNG.
22. Pray for encouragement and strength for personnel who have extra heavy workloads because of personnel shortages.
23. Pray for a Wycliffe Associates construction team in an earthquake ravaged area of Central Asia as they help with reconstruction of roads, homes, schools, and medical facilities.
24. Obtaining visas is an ongoing challenge in many countries Pray for those personnel needing visas.
25. Pray for the recruitment of teachers, boarding home parents, and youth leaders for the educational needs of Missionary Kids.
26. Ask God to give the senior leadership team wisdom in balancing the priorities.
27. The Moba people in Togo and Burkina Faso (about 200,000) have a bimonthly Christian newspaper. Pray they will grow spiritually through reading and sharing it.
28. The first Jungle Jump Off group arrives today. Pray for leaders Rick and Dori Pfizenmaier.
29. Pray for Roger and Cheryl Mawamba as they set up a Christian radio station in Cameroon. Pray authorities will act quickly on their application and grant a frequency for broadcasting the Gospel message.
30. During furloughs, personnel reconnect with family, partners and supporting churches; do mission service; and upgrade training. Pray for times of rest and refreshment also.
31. Pray for the June Total It Up! A past participant testifies: “I did not realize I could learn this much about linguistics in one week. I didn’t realize how much more there is to learn.”

1. Today is the monthly JAARS Day open house. Pray for clear weather, safety and receptivity as guests learn about Bible translation.
2. The premier issue of the new magazine, Rev.7, is being mailed this week. Pray that readers will be encouraged toward greater involvement with JAARS and Bible translation.
3. Kirk and Cindy Flanegan are traveling and representing JAARS in the Pacific area. Pray for good communication with their contacts as they assess needed support services.
4. Rejoice! In 2005, Wycliffe personnel completed five Bibles and 31 New Testaments, and dubbed 32 Jesus videos, seven Luke videos and three Genesis videos.
5. MK Safari is a 13-week summer program for elementary-aged children. Pray for preparations, staffing, and the spiritual growth of the children.
6. Pray for Carolyn Waltz and consultants as they make final checks of the second edition of the Guanano New Testament.
7. Pray for excited, qualified students to participate in Information Technology Services Summer Intern Program.
8. Jim Akovenko recently reported that JAARS has commitments to purchase ten Kodiak airplanes. Praise God that three are fully funded!
9. The Jesus Messiah picture books project, a comic-book-style account of the gospel, is planned for about fifteen languages in Togo and Benin. Praise God for the books in Fon, Kabiye and French which have arrived and cleared customs.
10. Pray for wisdom as Land and Aviation administrators seek solutions to the transportation needs of teams in Ethiopia.
11. Today is the monthly Praise and Prayer meeting at the Center. Join us in prayer, especially for those in Center Services and Operations.

15. Pray for the Senior Services department staff as they offer information, resources and a listening ear to senior citizens here at JAARS.
16. Rejoice this Easter Day! “He is not here; for He is risen” (Matthew 28:6, NKJ).
17. “Radio programming crosses the barriers of illiteracy, disputes over alphabet choices and church affiliation,” writes Americas Area director, Ken Schmitt. Pray those who hear broadcasts in local languages will respond in faith to the message.
18. Ask God to provide needed personnel in Aviation Maintenance for aircraft mechanics, machine shop operators, parts room personnel, facilities maintenance personnel and administrators.
19. Pray for those in leadership who bear the weight of decision making that affects others. Ask God to bless them with grace, mercy and wisdom.
20. Translators have completed the layout of Peru’s Wanca Quechua New Testament, with a dedication tentatively scheduled for August. Pray that needed changes will be found during the final reading and people will be ready to read and obey God’s message.
21. Pray for Bret Taylor and his team as they finalize the senior high summer missions trip. Pray for the students’ fundraising.
22. Pray for needed long-distance truck drivers and spouses and a long-distance dispatcher for Materials Transportation Services.
23. Pray for SE Asian refugees as they record God’s Story videos in five languages, after having completed Vernacular Media Services training.
24. Chuck Daly, JAARS Aviation Director, and his department leaders need wisdom and discernment as they evaluate aviation needs in light of rising costs and personnel shortages.
25. Pray that manuscripts of the New Testament and Genesis in the Philippines Kagayanen language will be ready to typeset by December 2006.
26. Pray that JAARS personnel will remain strong in their walk with the Lord and will maintain a hunger and thirst for His Word.
27. Pray for funding for a country-wide expansion of the Lama (Togo) literacy project. Translation of the whole Bible is proceeding well.
28. Pray God will guide Neal Brinneman as he considers leading a team to help build a Lama translation center.
29. Pray that Information Technology mobilizers will have wisdom in answering inquirers’ questions.
30. Pray for gypsies attending a workshop on principles for translating Scripture into Romani. There are approximately 250,000 speakers in Romania; 6–11 million throughout the world.

1. Pray for the Tour staff as they prepare for the March 4 JAARS Day.
2. Pray for Marvin Hyde and a group of JAARS partners visiting Bible translation projects in Africa.
3. A Check IT Out Conference is being held today and tomorrow in the Los Angeles area. Pray for computer people to use their skills to help reach the Vision 2025 goal.
4. Pray for the sound system and audio-visual equipment, and for safe aircraft demonstrations and rides during today’s JAARS Day.
5. Several whole Bibles for indigenous people of the Philippines are in progress. Pray for the Filipinos, learning to translate the Bible, especially the Old Testament, in their own heart language.
6. Wycliffe begins a new language project approximately every five days. Praise the Lord for those who are hearing God’s Word in their own language for the first time.
7. Remodeling the Olive Branch building will provide more space for youth activities. Pray for needed workers and funds for this project.
8. The Jungle Jump Off program is a “seed planting” ministry to teens and young adults. Pray that staff will see encouraging signs of the “harvest.”
9. Pray for aviation personnel who are dealing with government officials in various countries. Pray for sensitivity to cultural differences and for patience when things don’t move quickly.
10. Praise God for the dedications of the whole Bible in Mexico’s Huasteca Aztec’s central dialect, November 30, 2005, and the eastern dialect, December 23, 2005.
11. Pray for Sea Captains Robert and Nancy Haussler, on their sailboat, taxiing translation teams to and from locations in the Solomon Islands.
12. Pray that Sea Captains Steve and Lynn Hyman, who are newly assigned to Papua New Guinea, can by mid-year begin managing water transportation services for 29 teams in the Southeast Area.
13. Pray for Sea Captains Larry and Anne Hamilton, who have finished visiting each translation team in Vanuatu, the Solomon Islands; “phase one” in Papua New Guinea. They have now begun visiting teams in other Southeast Asia areas.
14. Leaders in North Eurasia plan to begin twenty new translation projects within the next ten years. Pray for personnel, visas, skills, equipment and finances to fulfill this vision.
15. Pray that the Lord will bring the ten current language projects in North Eurasia to completion by 2015.
16. Many people groups in Chad have no Scripture in their language, nor is it likely that people within these groups will become translators. Pray that other Chadian or expatriates will meet these translation needs.
17. As the numbers of turbine-powered aircraft increase, the need for skilled maintenance people also increases. Ask God to fill these needs.
18. Pray for protection of translators in the Philippines traveling by airplane, bus, jeepney, motorcycle, and foot to get to the people with whom they work.
19. Elections in the Democratic Republic of Congo begin mid-March, with presidential elections in June. Pray that peace will reign throughout the process and that a godly leader will be chosen to lead this vast nation.
20. Pray for the Senior leadership team as they implement principles taught at a Lifelong Learning for Leaders seminar in January.
21. The Chay (pseudonym) language team have produced films of the Joseph story and Part I of the Moses story, with two other films nearing completion. Pray these films will have a spiritual impact on the Chay people.
22. A Chay man, who participated in recording the Joseph story, took 15 films to give out in his home village. Pray that those viewing the film will understand and accept its message.
23. Praise! The Isnag revised New Testament with Genesis and Exodus was sent to the printers in early December 2005. Pray for Nard Pugyao as he coordinates a June dedication.
24. Pray that the computer people who are in the process of joining Wycliffe will trust God in partnership development and the assignment process.
25. Speakers of the Rapa Nui language in Chile will soon have their own New Testament. Pray many will become sensitive and responsive to the truths of God’s Word.
26. Pray for personnel preparing materials to train national translators in a language in the Mediterranean region. Pray that many speakers of this language will find salvation through this new translation project.
27. Pray for the critical need of administration and computer people in Chad. Unless these needs are met, language teams will have to leave their projects in order to fill them.
28. Translation aids for French-speaking mother-tongue translators are needed. Pray that French-speaking Christians will help provide resources and others will learn the language in order to work in Francophone counties.
29. Pray for funds for JAARS-sponsored projects that will meet computer needs worldwide.
30. The East Congo Group plans a spiritual retreat, April 8-16. Pray for wisdom as staff plan and prepare. Pray for the speaker and child-care team coming from the U.S..
31. Ask God to supply computer personnel to fill 205 positions worldwide.

1. MK Station staff and area home-schooling families are ministering to 30 children whose parents are attending the Intercultural Communications Course. Pray that these children will learn many skills needed to adjust to missionary life and to stay healthy.
2. Scriptures are now being translated into Swedish Sign Language. Pray that they will impact the Deaf community of Sweden.
3. Pray for an accounts payable coordinator to serve in Accounting.
4. Today is the first JAARS Day of the year. Pray that guests will catch the vision for Bible translation and become involved.
5. The Creative Services staff are working toward a new JAARS magazine. Pray for the planning and production of the first issue.
6. Bill and Dorie Mayes started an assignment with Africa Area in Nairobi in January. Pray for Bill serving as Services Coordinator and Dorie, as Member Care Facilitator.
7. Pray that God will bring wise friends and encouragers to the Senior Leadership Team; strengthen them in their ministry and provide meaningful fellowship and times of rest.
8. Praise the Lord with Accounting for a smooth, successful 2005 external audit.
9. Pray for the Men’s Prayer Breakfast that meets at 6:30 each Friday morning for fellowship, Bible study and prayer.
10. Praise God that speakers of the Garifuna language in Honduras (100,000 people) can watch culturally adapted video Scripture stories. Pray these videos will change lives.
11. Pray for protection of national translation teams around the world and the provision of a way of escape for those who may be in danger.
12. Pray that God’s peace will reign supreme in the hearts of translation team members. Pray for their physical, mental and spiritual health.
13. Ask the Lord for more financial partners for staff whose support is inadequate.
14. Pray that Lorena Oyarce, from Chili, will be granted a visa in order to participate in the Vernacular Media Services orientation. Pray for the children of orientees, who must settle into local schools.
15. Ask God to sustain and energize Information Technology (IT) staff while they wait for new coworkers, urgently needed so that vital computer services may continue to further the work of Bible translation.
16. Pray that IT leadership at the Orlando, Dallas, and JAARS Centers will demonstrate grace and sensitivity as they work together in the standardization of technical concerns.
17. The Intercultural Communications Course finishes today. Pray trainees will respond well to new challenges. Pray for provisions needed to begin their work assignments quickly.
18. Pray for Quest Aircraft can complete a certification process so that production of Kodiak airplanes can begin.
19. The effects of the U.S. and Mexico hurricanes, the Asian tsunami and the Pakistani earthquake have been felt worldwide. The tragic loss of lives, property and infrastructure, including churches, affects Bible translation. Pray for the physical and spiritual needs in these areas.
20. Praise God that after 2½ years in Peruvian Customs, the last Peru-based, mission airplane has arrived in the U.S. Proceeds from its sale will be reinvested in Bible translation.
21. The Vernacular Media Services orientation runs today through May 26. The training curriculum is in revision. Pray for staff as they work on this project.
22. Pray for Vernacular Media Services orientees who are using a revised training syllabus for the first time.
23. Construction and Maintenance orientation runs today through May 12. Pray for safety during training on machinery and for minds to grasp and retain the material taught.
24. Pray for the Check IT Out Conference being held today and tomorrow in the San Francisco Bay area. Pray that many computer professionals will choose to use their skills to further Bible translation.
25. Pray for additional leaders for the JAARS Youth Ministry and for Bret Taylor who oversees this program.
26. Pray that the Lord would complete Kevin and Gale Tillett’s partnership team, allowing Kevin to serve as Aviation Flight Coordinator after this month’s training.
27. Aviation Orientation runs today through June 9. Pray for the instructors. Pray for good health, mental alertness and clear direction for those in attendance.
28. Spiritual Vitality Conference is being held today at JAARS. Pray that hearts will be encouraged and refreshed as speaker Bob Sjogren presents “Unveiling God’s Glory.”

1. Pray that in this New Year, many people will receive God’s Word in their heart languages for the first time.
2. Continue to pray that Wycliffe will get a positive response from the IRS, to reinstate area Donor Car programs.
3. The Candoshi-Shapras of Peru have six video-trained men, but only two sets of old equipment which they must share, even though they are widely separated. Pray for the Lord to supply six up-to-date DVD backpacks to show the Luke video.
4. Pray for an office manager and needed staff for the Intercultural Communication Course department.
5. Raymond, the son of Papua New Guinean translator, George R., has had his leg amputated above the knee because of cancer. Pray that Raymond and his family will trust God’s wisdom, sovereignty and timing of this illness.
6. Pray that Raymond will not become discouraged during the healing process. Pray for a good rehabilitation period and an artificial leg that fits.
7. Pray for those in Vernacular Media Services (VMS) who help provide Scriptures in non-print media, such as audio and video recordings.
8. Pray for VMS workers who maintain equipment and provide training in recording, editing, material distribution and other activities.
9. Thank God for the technology that allows quick, easy communication around the world through email.
10. Twenty-five translated New Testaments are nearing completion in Asia. Ask the Lord to protect computers, storage discs, copiers and printers from technical failures.
11. Praise God for the three New Testaments finished in Asia this year! P ray for changed lives as a result of using these Scriptures.
12. Many JAARS folks are suffering illnesses: some acute, some chronic and some life threatening. Ask God to heal them and bring glory to Himself through the circumstances.
13. Pray for the Information Technology staff who work long hours to keep computer systems up and running here and overseas.
14. Pray for churches in Cameroon to grasp the vision for giving God’s Word to people in their heart languages and for them to get involved in Bible translation.
15. Pray for Sea Captains, Tim and Stacie McIntosh, as they make the transition from the business world to full-time work with Maritime Services.
16. Pray for Wycliffe Associate’s Kids-Zone teams as they serve missionary kids, making it possible for parents to participate in area conferences scheduled from January through June in South America, Africa, the South Pacific and elsewhere.
17. Praise God for the La Liga Biblica organization that works with Mexican Indian languages, promoting Scripture use in over forty language groups.
18. Pray for the selection of a new director for Partnership Ministries.
19. Around 28 Melanesian languages are spoken in New Caledonia, but translation programs have been difficult to implement. Ask the Lord to reveal which translations are needed and to provide resources for starting these projects.
20. Pray for a four-week Intercultural Communication Course that begins today. Pray for students to comprehend the material and instructors to give clear presentations.
21. Pray for the development and execution of “Check IT Out,” a two-day program to provide information for potential IT personnel.
22. Alan and Lucy Rogers, during a trip to MacLaren Creek, Australia, recorded about 70 songs in Aboriginal languages. Pray that indigenous music will help in presenting the Gospel message clearly to those who listen.
23. Give praise for the three Kodiak airplanes funded in 2005 for service in Papua New Guinea. Pray for the production process and earliest possible delivery dates.
24. Pray for accuracy and exactness as Accounting staff handle daily financial transactions.
25. Pray for Sea Captains Larry and Anne Hamilton as they move to a fourth South Pacific country to train translation families in survival at sea and to assess their water transportation needs.
26. Pray for the twenty-five or so people attending the JAARS Leadership Retreat, which will focus on team building, today through the 29th.
27. Pray for health and safety for maintenance workers and grounds keepers who care for the JAARS campus.
28. A problem has arisen that will delay the Papua New Guinea Auhelawa New Testament for a year or two. Pray the Auhelawa people will not become discouraged.
29. Pray for the seven couples seeking the Lord’s provision in order to attend the Spring Construction and Maintenance Orientation.
30. Pray for the provision of 237 people needed worldwide to support Bible translation through Information Technology.
31. Pray for the U.S. Mobilization meetings, today through Thursday, as recruiters are trained for enlisting 7,000 people with appropriate skills by 2014.
