| “TOTAL” is an acronym for
“Taste Of
Translation And
Linguistics.” This five-day course includes
introductory classes on language and culture learning, phonetics,
alphabet making, grammar, translation, and literacy, as well as field
reports, videos, and personal testimonies.
Explore the possibilities of linguistics and other language-related ministries. Whet your appetite for foreign encounters learning how to master a language with no grammar books or tapes available. Take “The Journey”—a four-hour “feast” of what missionaries experience to get to an overseas assignment. TIU is definitely hands-on with a different ethnic meal every night and an after dinner speaker—you guessed it, a real, live missionary who’s been there and done it. Sit around the table every day with fellow seekers, desirous to serve God and see their lives add up for His Kingdom. Try TIU—you’ll like it! Participants, mostly college-age men and women, traveled to the JAARS campus to spend five days sampling numerous tasty courses: tangy translation, luscious linguistics, good grammar, fresh phonetics and phonology, and crispy culture and worldview.
