Tax-Advantaged Options

Goods or Property
We’re always looking for small aircraft, vehicles and boats. Sometimes, they can be outfitted and sent to our partners. Other times, we’ll sell the item and put that money toward the most pressing needs.

We can’t accept computers or clothes, but we can accept plenty of other things, such as artwork, fine jewelry, collectibles or real estate.

Contact us to get started. We’ll be glad to discuss your unique situation!
Give Directly from Your IRA
You can use a Qualified Charitable Distribution to give directly to a charity from your traditional IRA or your Roth IRA without paying income tax on the transfer. In certain cases, your gift can count toward your required minimum distribution. Contact us for special instructions.
Establish a Donor Advised Fund
Simplify your generosity by opening a Donor Advised Fund (DAF) that works like your family’s
personal charitable checking account. Traditionally, donors send checks to all the various
charities, churches and missionaries they support, and collect multiple donation receipts for tax
filing. But by opening a DAF, you can “deposit” all your donations (using cash, stocks and non-
cash assets) in one place, designate grants to be sent out to those same charities from your DAF
on your behalf, and collect one receipt for your annual charitable deduction.
Explore Non-cash Giving
Are most of your financial resources tied up in assets such as private business ownership and real estate? If so, consider exploring the potential of giving a portion of these appreciated non-cash assets to a charity instead of writing checks from post-tax dollars. Doing so can multiply your impact!
Give Publicly Traded Stocks
In most cases, donating appreciated stocks, bonds or mutual funds from a taxable investment portfolio before you sell them can provide a greater charitable tax deduction while also increasing your ministry support.
Charitable Estate Planning
Upon death, there are typically three places assets can pass: family/friends, charity or the government. If you have exposure to the federal estate tax, thoughtful planning may significantly reduce or potentially eliminate the estate tax liability and enable you to redirect those reduced taxes for charitable impact.
Charitable Gift Annuities
A charitable gift annuity (CGA) is a charitable solution for those who have a heart to give while also wanting a source of ongoing income. CGAs provide fixed payments for life at rates generally
higher than CDs. You make the gift to support a charity (the part of the CGA which is tax-deductible), and then receive fixed annuity payments for life.
Include Charitable Giving in a Business-exit Strategy
As part of your succession planning, consider giving business interests to increase charitable giving. When the sale happens, the portion previously given can be purchased, lessening the associated taxes and increasing the liquidity transferred into your DAF for granting to your favorite charities.
Use Your Real Estate to Fund Charitable Giving
You can donate interests in appreciated real estate (residential and/or commercial property) to the
organization that manages your Donor Advised Fund. While the property is held and when it is liquidated, the proceeds can be granted to support ministries.

Potential benefits of real estate gifts include reduction or elimination of taxes on the gifted portion’s future income and future sales, plus the possibility of an income tax deduction for the appraised fair market value of the gift.
Use Your Business to Fund Charitable Giving
Consider donating a portion of your business or business interests to the organization that
manages your Donor Advised Fund.

You typically receive a substantial tax deduction at the time of the donation, and potential taxes on the organization’s portion of the company’s future income may be reduced, resulting in more money for charity. When the business is subsequently sold, the organization will likely pay less in potential taxes and put more in your Donor Advised Fund for granting to charity.
