Professional Qualifications

Looking to pursue a career in mission aviation? Below is what it takes to serve with JAARS around the world.

Pilot

High school diploma or equivalent
Commercial pilot license with instrument rating
500 hours minimum flight time
Class II Medical certificate or equivalent
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Preferred: High performance and tailwheel aircraft endorsement
Optional: Airframe & Powerplant Certificate

Maintenance Technician

High school diploma or equivalent
Airframe & Powerplant Certificate
Good troubleshooting skills
Investigative diagnostic mindset
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Optional: Inspection Authorization

Avionics Technician

High school diploma or equivalent
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Aircraft Maintenance Engineers License in Airframe, Electrical, Instrument, or Radio, or an FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL) or certification from other industry recognized organizations such as, but not limited to, International Society of Certified Electronics Technicians (ISCET) or National Center for Aerospace & Transportation Technologies (NCATT)
Analytical/investigative
Good troubleshooter

All candidates must meet the following personal and spiritual qualifications. Couples applying to JAARS must individually meet these qualifications.

  • Demonstrate a deep and growing walk with the Lord Jesus that includes your personal growth and the ability to support others in their spiritual growth
  • Embrace the JAARS mission
  • Maintain an attitude of continuous improvement and safety awareness
  • Disciplined, safety conscious, aptitude for learning and adaptability
  • Demonstrate the JAARS Flight Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes
